The Hurt Whisperer Pain always carries messages
I heard a sermon recently and the title was, "The Hurt Whisperer". What a clever title for a reality that many times goes undetected in our minds! It is so true that when we have pain in this life the enemy whispers lies to us. He comes disguised as our own thoughts and we believe him. He tells lies about who we are and who God is. His goal is to destroy the ability to have intimacy with our Father. He knows if he can get us to believe we are no good and God is not loving, his job is accomplished. He is a master at robbing, stealing, and killing all that God has for us.
The problem isn't the pain, it is the message whispered into our minds during the pain. When we are hurt in life, the devil begins whispering his lies. But, we do not realize our thoughts are from Satan, he is stealthy! In the garden of Eden the hurt whisperer took on the form of a serpent. The problem with snakes is - we don't know they are there. We take a walk and get bit by a snake because we never saw it.
If you and I have unhealed hurts in our life, we have messages in our mind that must be addressed. Each of the hurt whisperer's lies must be revealed, must be removed, and must be replaced with truth. Scripture tells us that when we know the truth the truth sets us free! The Holy Spirit knows our thoughts and feelings more than we do. He is the revealer of the lies we believe. He is the healer of our wounded hearts. When the Holy Spirit speaks His truth into our hearts and minds, true freedom is found when it is received. Did you know one of the many names of God is "Gentle Whisperer"? When we listen to the whispers of the Holy Spirit and believe Him, true healing begins in a transformational way.
In life you have one who whispers from the gates of heaven and another who whispers from the pit of hell. Whose whisper will you continue to hear? Will you allow the whispers of the Holy Spirit to breath life back into your mind? Will you allow His whispers to set you free and find your heart beating again? We choose who we will listen to and believe!
The Holy Spirit is our "gentle whisperer" I Kings 19:12 (KJV).
